Bob Dylan brought a rare song back to the stage during his June 6 concert at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville, Washington.
The performance records for Dylan’s catalog list “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” as having returned that night, marking its first live appearance since 2012. Dylan opened the show with the song, giving longtime listeners a notable moment from a catalog that often shifts in small but meaningful ways from one performance to the next.
“You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” dates back to 1967 and is tied to the Basement Tapes period, when Dylan recorded informal sessions with The Band in Woodstock, New York. The song later became familiar to a wider audience through Dylan’s own releases and through versions by other artists.
Its return stands out because Dylan has performed the track more than 100 times over the years, but had left it out of his live shows for more than a decade.
